We are seeking dedicated and empathetic individuals to join our team as Patient Support Associates / Hospital Porters, pending contract award at a major medical center in San Antonio.

As a Patient Support Associate / Hospital Porter, you'll be a vital part of the healthcare team, serving as a trusted greeter, navigator, and transporter for patients and their visitors. You'll play a crucial role in building confidence, providing essential assistance, and ensuring every individual feels valued and cared for throughout their visit. This is an opportunity to make a significant positive impact on the patient experience.
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities):

  • Be a Welcoming Greeter: Provide a warm, friendly, and helpful first impression to patients and their families upon arrival.
  • Navigate & Inform: Assist patients with campus navigation, providing clear information about services, locations, and facility programs.
  • Transport with Care: Safely escort patients, family members, and visitors via wheelchair or by guiding them to various departments and clinics across the facility.
  • Assist with Mobility: Help patients enter/exit vehicles, load/unload wheelchairs and other personal medical equipment (walkers, etc.).
  • Support Patient Needs: Aid in the discharge process by escorting patients to necessary services (like pharmacy) and to their designated pick-up points.
  • Ensure Safety: Uphold facility safety protocols, including fall prevention guidelines, and respond appropriately in emergency situations (BLS certified, CPR, First Aid).
  • Liaise & Resolve: Act as a helpful link between patients and healthcare staff to address concerns and facilitate smooth communication.
  • Uphold Dignity: Safeguard patient rights and ensure their dignity and self-respect are always protected.
  • Operational Support: Assist with transporting lab samples and other essential duties to support medical teams.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain necessary documentation as required.

What You'll Bring (Qualifications & Requirements):

  • Heart & Dedication: A genuine desire to provide excellent customer service and compassionate care.
  • Experience: At least 6 months of verifiable customer service experience.
  • Certification: Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. (We provided training).

Eligibility:

  • Must be a legal resident or U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and obtain necessary facility access credentials.
  • Professionalism: Ability to conduct yourself with the utmost respect, courtesy, and compassion.
  • Reliability: Ability to adhere to schedules and facility policies, including a strict smoke-free environment.
